Anselm Skogstad

DER DUFT founder Anselm Skogstad is a German-American artist and photojournalist from Munich. Anselm was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute as well as the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography in New York City. He worked for Christopher Makos, David LaChapelle, and Magnum Photos, which inspired him greatly.

While working on photographic projects in Asia, it was a friend in Hong Kong who activated his passion for perfumes. Perhaps it was the environment of exotic Asian scents that motivated him to explore a new artistic field. A stay in Grasse, the Mecca of perfume art gave him a deeper insight into the conception and production of perfumes. He concentrated on the olfactory work, not the breakdown into individual fragrance notes. The focus is on the fragrance, the perfume.

MONOPTEROS is a perfume inspired by a classical temple named Monopteros which is situated on a hill in Munich’s Englischer Garten from where one can enjoy a charming view of the park and the skyline of the city. “MONOPTEROS is my homage to Munich.“
